    The food was fantastic. The waiter may have been part owner. If not, he should be. He was excellent. I have a son with Celiac, and they dedicate an area of the kitchen to cook for allergies. My son has never been able to order so many things at a restaurant, and by far his favorite experience.

    They literally tell you, “Time’s Up” after you’ve been there almost 2 hours. We didn’t get served immediately, had to wait to have our order taken but “Time’s Up”. I could see if the place was crowded, but there were literally 2 other tables of guests in the entire restaurant. I won’t be back. Time’s Up

    The Eggplant moussaka along with the Yaga roasted lamb were super salty. The Grilled shrimp ended up being overcooked. The Cauliflower was lukewarm. The Forest mushroom crepe had nice earthy taste but we had bits of what was possibly eggshells in them. The Pepper and Cheese croquettes interesting and worth a try. The first order of fried chicken we received was delicious and the next one, although still crispy, the chicken was bland. The Steak tartar was marinated beautifully, one of the most flavorful tartars we have had to date. The white flatbread was good, bordering salt. The Urnebes spread was delicious with a buttery texture! The Beef Short Rib Goulash was so rich with flavorful, just bit greasy. For dessert we had the raspberry cake. Not deep with flavor. But my only wish for the Baklava was that there was more!

    The food, the service and the ambiance were all good. I was surprised though to see that any tip provided on the total bill included the Arlington Co food tax charged for the meal. I didn't mind the 22% tip because Mohammed earned it with the level of service but come on Ambar....including the tax to the total and then applying the tip to that total?! This puts the customer into an uncomfortable situation of reducing the tip percentage to adjust for the added tax.

    My colleagues and I went to Ambar for a work celebration and it was wonderful. We got the all you can eat and our server kept bring out dishes, we did not have to wait to order and we got to try a lot of new things. My water glass was always full and our server, Angeles G was a sweetheart. I would recommend Ambar to anyone who is hungry and wants a good expereince!

    We’ve been here twice and had two very different experiences. The food is wonderful but the experience 100% depends on your server. Not sure we’ll return.
