At Amber India in downtown San Francisco, we blend the rich traditions of North Indian cuisine with a modern dining experience. Our menu features favorites like butter chicken, aromatic biryanis, and tandoori specialties, all crafted with authentic spices and techniques. Whether you prefer vegetarian dishes or hearty meats, there's something for everyone.

Our three-story restaurant, with vaulted ceilings and a lively LED light show behind the bar, offers a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. We can host up to 140 guests, with a private dining room for gatherings of up to 25. Located near Union Square, Amber India is ideal for a casual meal or special celebration.

    The food was good. The service was friendly and atentive. But the whole place was full and consequently very noise. We were a company of 4 on a small square table, but sometimes we had trouble understanding each other

    I chose Amber India based on past experience at a different location. I specifically wanted to enjoy the Chilean sea bass for my birthday dinner. The location and decor are wonderful. The attentiveness and caring of the staff was the best part of the evening. Unfortunately, the food was far below expectations. The sea bass was overcooked and had a ‘fishy’ smell. The lamb curry had an ordinary taste and thin gravy. I had delicious memories of past meals at Amber in San Jose and this meal was a major disappointment. Our server acknowledged my birthday and I appreciate this gesture.

    I had Kadai Paneer and Lacha Paratha. The Kadai Paneer was completely flavorless, and the paneer itself seemed like it was from the frozen variety, with a very tough texture. The paratha was cold and lacked the usual chewiness. Never going back!

    The quality of food and presentation has gone down noticeably since the last time I have been there. The change in chef is very clear. This has now become an over priced mediocre place to eat and not worth the drive in. I guess this is better for my figure and wallet.

    We found Amber SF to be very average this time, in terms of food. The Pav bhaji had Chinese flavours, the fish was barely flavoured, the masala chai was not great and the adraki gobhi was swimming in oil. The butter chicken, tandoor chicken and goat curry were decent . The live dosa station was the best, with freshly made dosas, and really great mini uttapams. The dessert counter was meh, with the too sweet lauki halwa and very chewy gulab jamuns. On average, it was a disappointing experience, especially because we’ve come to expect high standards from Amber.

    We were at Amber - SF for Saturday lunch Buffet The Food was really cold. Ruined our entire experience since we were there to Celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. Nothing was done to make the day special.
