I am confused by all the positive reviews as this place is uncomfortable, food poor and grubby with filthy toilets. For the price we paid we could have had a good fine dining experience elsewhere…nothing to recommend. So where do we start….
On entry we were seated in the most uncomfortable bar stools that could not be moved, our noses 8 inches from a wall and orange neon lights shining above our faces. My girlfriend asked if they hang her very nice coat, but no they couldn’t so it was on the ground by her feet for the meal. We were told instead we need to be out in 1 hour 45 mins which I was unnecessary as it was 8:10 pm.
Not a great start but as it was my birthday, they gave us a complementary drink, so things were looking up. Quite a pricey menu and becomes quite limited if you don’t eat meat. The smoked egg on toast was ok and the cold mushroom tartlet pastry thick and hard. The torched scallops or should I say singular scallop was hard to find among all the foam and outrageously priced at 18 Euros. The pork was dry and uninspiring, and the cod overcooked and chewy, I had far better in my local chipper. Deserts limited so we ordered the cheese board, but they never told us they had only 2 of the 3 cheeses available when we ordered and not many crackers and quince. 2 Euros for tap water really ??
So, this place was heading for a disappointing two stars until my girlfriend used the bathroom. It was dirty, hairs in the sink, overflowing sanitary unit, masking tap on the toilet flusher, floor wet, peeling paint and a yellow liquid dripping from the exposed pipework in the ceiling. When she mentioned it to the manager, he nonchalantly mentioned that when it rains heavily the loo from the bathroom above in the carpark overflows. Good knows what dripped on my girlfriends head.
Go elsewhere
