Had a reservation before a show at the Music Center. Arrived early and were seated almost immediately. Restaurant was full, but not crazy. Hostess and our waiter assured us we had more than enough time before our show, the waiter even saying we could do appetizers first. We ordered wine and dinner immediately, then sat without anything but water for 20+ minutes. Our appetizer/salad and bottle of wine arrived together without any comment about the delay. The salad was okay, but the mushroom app was really good. Thought the wait was a fluke and settled in looking forward to dinner, but it never came. Waiter kept refilling our wine glasses, but no dinner or explanation. At an hour and 15 minutes, we realize we can't eat and make the show. Other diners are leaving for the theater. We try to flag down anyone to say we don't have time to eat, when we start to notice that other tables are speaking with the manager. Finally, we simply stand up with our coats and look around. The manager comes over and apologizes and immediately says he's picking up the tab. Says that the restaurant is in transition and working on issues, but nothing specific. He gave us his card and was very nice.
They only serve four entrees, so it's hard to imagine what could be going on in the kitchen to cause that type of delay. And the wait staff didn't seem experienced to deal with it - no communication at all. Hope they pull it together. Sitting through a 3-hour show with no dinner was a drag.
