August is a restaurant that sits in the old heritage church on Dornoch Terrace, West End. Our dining room is surrounded by objects, art, and the original pitched church ceiling and stained glass windows. Our menu is influenced by regional food from France, Italy and Spain

August is open for dinner from 5pm on Wednesday - Saturday, and from 12pm for Sunday Lunch. We also offer a range of private dining experiences, and can accommodate 60 seated guests, or up to 100 for reception-style events. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

New Year's at August! Join us for New Year's Eve at August! Tuesday December 31st from 5:30pm. $120 per head, which includes a shared style set menu with a glass of sparkling on arrival.
Sunday Lunch - $90 per head

For Sunday lunch bookings, we offer an $90 set menu option only, which changes week to week and with the seasons. Please advise us the time of booking if there are any guests with dietary requirements.

Excellent food on Sunday Lunch Sardine with fermented carrots on sourdough had balanced acidity The truffle stracciatella and hazelnuts/fresh figs was a cool dish with refreshing complexity Pork and cold iceberg was a brilliant Sunday roast On balance I would drop the music volume and mix it up on the playlist I will be back for excellent service and eclectic food.❤️😇

We thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of our dining from the oysters and sardine entrees to the wagu main, trout confit & crab omelette. The service & wine choices were excellent & we’d definitely recommend the 5pm sitting if possible as we could have an easy conversation without competing to be heard.

Great service from the team… food was very good but a little light on portions (we had the $85 banquet) would go again just for the friendly and efficient service!

We loved everything about this dining experience. The setting is a small converted timber church with a soaring ceiling, pine floor, starched white table cloths and simple bentwood chairs. Food is perfectly balanced and creative. Stand out for us was the pickled fennel fritters and the mud crab omelette. The food was quite rich, a more French style and for 2 of us we opted for 6 smaller dishes and desserts and didn’t have a main. Extremely happy with this choice. The drinks are interesting, natural, earthy choices rather than more classic wines, but were delicious.

Great experience from start to finish. Welcoming friendly not snobby service. Lovely, interesting and well thought out menu. Food itself was delicious and satisfying. Great suburban setting, spacious, not super noisy or crowded. Attentive service without being overbearing. We didn’t feel rushed or pressured in how we ordered- we ordered about 5 dishes to share and a cocktail each came to about $170 total, didn’t order any dishes from the mains selection because we wanted to try lots of things and no one was bothered- in fact it was almost expected. Had a great night. There were a variety of groups, some larger, some couples, some friends. Was nice. Definitely recommend and will be back.

I have been waiting for August to open since I first heard about it, and it was worth the wait. Everything was perfect, the service was seamless, every dish was incredible, the wine was delicious. My friends and I could not fault 1 thing.

Outstanding food in an unpretentious space. Don’t let the prices put you off. The meals are to share and for 4 people we shared 2 mains, but had 4 entrees and 6 oysters. The oysters were surprising - I don’t even like oysters, but these were magnificent. Seriously delicious food and great wines.
