avec, a wine-focused restaurant in Chicago, features Midwestern takes on Mediterranean classics. Inspired by the sun-drenched wine regions of the Mediterranean, avec West Loop has been a Chicago favorite for over 20 years. Originally conceived as a wine bar, avec is the second concept from celebrated one-off hospitality, with communal and bar seating—it is a high-energy, intimate, and interactive experience.

    Our second floor is a dedicated private dining space that draws from the warm, intimate design of avec’s main dining room. The space features lots of wood, stone wallpaper and natural light. It’s the perfect location for a private, intimate gathering. Our event menus feature seasonally-inspired shared plates served family-style.

    We had a wedding brunch and it was amazing! We always have a good experience when we visit Avec. Staff was amazing as always and the food is always fire. Thanks for having us! Of course you will see us again. Many times

    Pretty noisy as I expected since the space is kind of small, while the ambiance and staff were friendly, the service was slower than I expected. It took a noticeably long time for my food to be prepared and served. This was disappointing, especially since I was looking forward to enjoying the meal.

    The food is SO good every time. Easily one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Short rib hummus is a must try.

    If it wasn't for the truly outstanding food and service this restaurant would be at the bottom of the list. Bland decor reminiscent of a sauna, a sound reflective ceiling matched with shoulder to shoulder seating and a sound level we measured close to 86dB (same as a blender or a diesel truck) makes Avec a tough love. Be prepared to stand in the elements outside as the waiting area will hold 6 people hugging each other.

    Shared a mussels small plate and a pork belly large plate, followed by Basque cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious; IMO the menu descriptions didn't do the dishes justice. Also the table sharing may not be for everyone.

    This was our first time in this restaurant and I must say that we were not impressed. Its extremely overrated . The dish I had was the worst meal I ever tried. And I am talking about the plain fish nothing fancy. It was so salty and impossible to eat because the amount of salt used.I digged up few pieces from inside that were somewhat consumable . I told the waitress , she apologized , thanked me for the feedback, and charged me for it anyway. On the other hand my family was ok with what they had so I hope that my dish was an isolated incident and wont happen again to other guests. Either way we wont be back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. For the prices they charge this incidents should not be happening period

    Seafoods are outstanding and its comes very fresh and hot from wood fire oven. Chairs are from wood . But everything was super good .
