Well, first off, I made reservations a week in advance before flying to Toronto, just to try Avelo. I was so excited and it turned out to be the absolute worst fine dining experience (or whatever Avelo calls it) I've had thus far.
1 - They denied us any extra mini croissants to finish the rest of our pate. The person serving us said something about the chef calculating how many people were coming in that day and only that it was strictly only 2 mini croissants per person, no more than that. My eyes blew up and I slowly realized this was going to be a hot mess. How cheap can you get? I think if you are experienced with fine dining, you will be shocked to know you won't be offered any more complimentary bread to enjoy your dish. I'm always offered more bread in these types of settings. This was the first mistake.
2 - Everyone knows those old houses get cold. They didn't prep their establishment for the cold weather, or warn us as they seated us by the window ''to seem full'' I suppose, but my toes almost had freezer burn and ended up being glued together from being so cold. I am not making this up. We were SHAKING while trying to focus on the ''experience'' at Avelo. My colleague and I were so cold, we could barely enjoy our meal. When I told them it was cold, nothing was done. We were ignored. That's the second mistake here.

Instead, they didn't bother asking. It was just a transaction to them, it seems. One, or two of the staff asked how the meals were a few times and it was never a consistent person serving us. All over the place, Avelo. That's le third.
4 - Some dishes were so horrible, that I kind of started to have an upset stomach. The chickpea dish was hard and dry, I could have
