Located along the Chicago river in the burgeoning Goose Island neighborhood, Azul is an upscale mariscos (seafood) restaurant serving an expansive menu of Latin-inspired fare. The concept aims to combine the ethos of an authentic mariscos restaurant with modern hospitality practices and all the touches of a sophisticated, lively spot.

Celebrating the rich flavors and fresh ingredients of Latin culinary culture, Azul’s chef-driven menu is brimming with refined representations of classic mariscos cuisine. Created by Executive Chef Michael Hernandez, Azul offers a variety of grilled, baked, fried and raw proteins as well as ceviches, seafood, cocktails and artfully arranged family-style platters.

A beautiful, ultra sexy venue off the beaten path. City’s best kept secret with an amazing staff, delicious food, extensive menu sitting on incredible real estate. Will definitely be back to experience the rooftop, patio and river view!

I will start with a positive - the service was excellent. The food was mixed - the salmon and lobster mac & cheese were very good, but the empanadas and taquitos were skimpy on the seafood filling. Lastly, their were several unnecessary charges that really tainted the experience - $14 dollars to self park in an adjoining parking lot, $1 for a 1 oz serving on salsa to go with the fish tacos, and $9 for a Modelo beer/$17 for a sangria. Dinner for 2 was over $200 and should have been closer to $150.

Azul, a fun experience, Good Food, Great Latin Flair. Service was Very Good and Efficient. I came in by my boat and parked at their dock. The young men working the dock were polite and professional, handled my boat with care. Docking fee was $20 (Flat), I also tipped the guys upon departure. Azul is a Fun, Romantic and Lively establishment. Being able to come in by the water made it even more special. Also, for a party of 4, I was really surprised by the price at about $170, not including tip. Azul was moderately priced for a really nice place. I would gladly go back.

Hubby and I tried this place out with another couple friend and all had a fabulous time! We found a promotion about Latin Restaurant Week and were able to sample their special menu. Most of the food was excellent. Fair warning to those who don't care for spicy food, this probably isn't the place for you. I love it though! Three of us started with the shrimp ceviche. It was really yummy and very spicy. I was also able to try my hubby's crab cake slider. This was very good and an option for those who don't want the spice. The entree course was our choice of three tacos. I had one each of Ahi tuna, shrimp and fish. The were all very good. The Ahi tuna came in a lettuce leaf instead of a tortilla. My friend had the jerk chicken taco and didn't care for it all, so maybe skip that one. The cocktails are all very innovative and pretty spicy. I loved my Mexican Candy one. It was very sweet but also very spicy. The Bloody Mary one wasn't good. Service was slow but friendly. Parking is valet park only even though there is a lot there.

Food and drinks were good, but overpriced for the portion size. Also, the music was really loud, so it was difficult to carry a conversation.
