Disappointing dinner at Azura. At this price point, the service was seriously lacking.
Ambiance - nice room, nothing special
Food - everything tasted good, but nothing exceptional or memorable
Presentation - nice, but again nothing exceptional that you would expect from a fine dining establishment
Service - this was the biggest disappointment. We did an 11 course tasting menu. We were seated and given a wine list by the hostess. We said we might want to do a wine pairing and she said our waiter would explain everything. No waiter for 15 minutes. And not a morsel of food for 45 minutes from when we were sat. Shouldn't there be an amuse bouche available almost right away? The waiter had zero personality which might not be a big deal, but we're here for an experience. No one asked how the food was or how we were doing. I think even at Pickle Barrel it's customary to say, how were the first few bites.
On the positive side - the Sommelier was very personable and made an effort to chat with us and make the evening fun.
Having said that, I wouldn't recommend the wine pairing. I don't believe it enhanced the meal and it seems like a ragtag collection of wines including from Croatia and Morocco.
I was there celebrating a birthday and they put a birthday candle in a strawberry.
I'm shocked at the positive reviews from others and I'm upset that I paid such a large bill for such a mediocre evening.
