Where do I start!
We ordered traditional turkey roast which comprised of 1 strip of carrot, 1 strip of parsnip, 2, yes 2, brussel sprouts, 2 roast potatoes, two pieces of turkey and two uncooked supermarket quality, pigs in blankets with gravy - all for a wholesome £24 each.
When asked if everything was okay, I pointed out the supermarket quality, pigs in blankets were hardly uncooked, to be fair the waitress apologised, but that was it.
I later questioned why only 2 brussel sprouts and was told “it’s because the meals are designed for people to have 3 courses” and we had only opted for a single course.
Thing is we would have had 3 courses, but the menu stated small plates and we mistakenly thought small plates, which were priced between £9 and £18 were a light lunch course, not a starter.
However, I was later told “it’s all based on Wind in the Willows”
Now maybe something in life has passed me by, but I have to admit, I have never read Wind in the Willows and at 62 I don’t really think it’s hindered me in life.
The manageress gave us 20% discount, as they really didn’t like me making reasonable observations in front of fellow diners.
All in all, very poor value, unless vegetables cost more in Edinburgh.
Tesco do actually sell Brussels sprouts at 85 pence a bag, maybe they could buy some when they are in there buying the pigs in blankets.
Definitely won’t be returning.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're genuinely sorry your experience didn’t meet expectations. We take pride in being the home of Kenneth Grahame, and while we love sharing the charm of The Wind in the Willows, we understand it may not be for everyone.
We strive to offer good value, thoughtful portions, and a menu designed for a full dining experience. We apologise if the menu wasn’t clear and caused confusion. We offered a discount and complimentary dessert as a gesture of goodwill, though we understand it didn’t fully make up for your disappointment. Your feedback is important, and we’ll take it into consideration as we improve.
We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back for a better dinning experience in the future.
King regards,
Team Badger
