This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

Heard from so many people that we NEEDED to go and this restaurant was definitely worth all the hype. Our waiter/bartender Graham gave us excellent recommendations for first-timers. All the food was delicious with good portions. We’ll be back again!

Sat at the bar for brunch, served by an excellent bartender--a real craftsman--patient explaining the ingredients of the cocktails. Drinks and food was terrific. My only minor criticisms are that the seats at the bar essentially have no backs and are horribly uncomfortable. There is no reason chairs with backs can't be used. Secondly, they offered no black tea, only herbal. I'm not a coffee drinker, but needed that morning caffeine and no tea option was available. Again, no reason not to offer that, especially at brunch.

Food is always amazing every time we come here. Service is great too. Can’t say enough good things. If you’re looking for an authentic Greek experience and incredible food, come to this place!

Exellent food, entrance may be improved as dining guests catch cold when other guests are entering or leaving.

We went for a date night and sat at the bar. The cocktails were so creative and delicious. The appetizers were amazing too - they came out quickly and were so unique. The entrees were excellent too - simple yet delicious. My only negative feedback was that the bar stools were a bit uncomfortable. I wish they had backs.

We were there for Sunday brunch. Our entrees were outstanding. Can’t remember the Greek names. We shared the dessert sampler. Which was also great. It had olive oil ice cream which was surprisingly good.

I love this restaurant! I told the waitress it was my boyfriend’s birthday and she surprised us with a lit candle on the appetizer! I didn’t have to ask ! We had the French toast (Greek style) which was delicious! I had the lamb gyro and my bf had the egg mushroom and feta scramble with toast. The meal, the atmosphere, and service was terrific!

Loved it! Perfect brunch at the bar. The staff were superb. The TOST with mushrooms was my favorite. We also loved the SAGANAKI (fried cheese like halloumi with fruit and pistachios on it - YUM!!!!!) The marinated grilled lamb chops were delicious. Ended the meal with two desserts - the baklava & olive oil ice cream and a yummy almond cake with a berry ice cream. Looking forward to going back in January for dinner with friends!
