This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

    Most food dishes were excellent. Surprisingly the lamb was our least favorite.

    Love this place. The food is sooo good, the ambiance is great. The service deserves a special shout out - Boston isn’t known for its friendly service but this place makes it a priority to deliver a pleasant experience all around. Will be coming back!

    Things we loved: pie of the day, cocktails, portions overall, description of coffee to ensure I would like it Could be better: frequency of service (we would have likely gotten 3 drinks each instead of 2), noting that the counter is right in front of the 515° oven in the reservation process, also noting that the bar is reservation only

    It's even better than what you hear. Boston and the surrounding suburbs have few high-quality places. This place is of the highest quality. My wife is from Greece and even she thought the food and drink was excellent.

    I was very disappointed. I was here a few months ago and it was good but this experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered the large meat tray to share for $150- the lamb was horrible. It was so dry and truly the worst lamb I’ve ever had. We sent it back and they gave us 2 lamb chops in exchange. I’m not sure that’s a fair trade. The service wasn’t great either. For the price, I won’t return any time soon.
