We spent an unforgettable evening at Barking Frog to ring in the New Year, indulging in their exquisite 4-course Farewell to 2024 dinner. Every detail, from the ambiance to drinks, was perfection, showcasing why this remains our favorite restaurant.
The experience began with an amuse bouche that set the tone for the evening: a single, exquisite oyster topped with a delicate champagne cloud. A stunningly light and flavorful start teased the culinary delights to come.
Course 1: Cured Duck Breast Carpaccio
The duck crudo was beautifully balanced, its gentle saltiness enhanced by a miso glaze that added depth without overpowering the delicate flavors.
Course 2: Dungeness Crab & Mascarpone Caramelle
This dish was a standout. The pasta was perfectly al dente, encasing a luscious filling of Dungeness crab and mascarpone. It was a harmonious blend of richness and freshness.
Surprise Course: Champagne Ice
Between the second and third courses, we were treated to a surprise—a small serving of champagne ice cream. It was an unexpected delight, bursting with flavor and refreshingly refreshing as a palate cleanser.
Course 3: Snake River Farms Wagyu Strip
The star of the evening! The Wagyu strip was cooked to perfection, with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and flavor that lingered in the best possible way. This was easily one of the best steaks we've had in years.
Course 4: Foie Gras Layer Cake
Dessert was a decadent masterpiece—a foie gras layer cake. Each bite was an indulgent combination of sweet and savory, a fitting finale to an extraordinary meal.
From start to finish, the dinner was exceptional. The setting was cozy and elegant, the perfect backdrop for celebrating the New Year.
Barking Frog truly outdid themselves, the team. We got the attention of the entire crew by explaining each course in detail, and we can’t wait to return for another unforgettable meal. Highly recommend!
