Barolo Ristorante, located in the heart of downtown Seattle, offers old-world northern Italian dishes crafted with a contemporary presentation, using natural and organic products and ingredients, many from the Pacific Northwest. The wine list includes more than 400 notable labels and varietals from around the world, specializing in Italian selections. The restaurant also hosts a lively bar offering specialty cocktails, grappa, and late night dining. Barolo’s smart Italian style is represented by lush textures, fabrics and ornamental design trends, merged with warm and comfortable accessories like hanging glass chandeliers over a large communal table, dark wood finishes and an abundance of flickering candlelight.

i made a reservation for my husband’s birthday. we were seated at a table right next to the door, so it was loud, busy, and there was zero privacy. it was busy, but definitely not full. we ordered our drinks as soon as our server came over. it seemed a little long to wait for one non-alcoholic beverage. when we received it, we immediately placed our order for two appetizers and two pasta dishes. our server delivered our appetizers in a timely fashion. we ate them promptly and then sat for at least 15-20 minutes with no notice. finally a bus boy asked if we were finished and took the 2 appetizer plates but left our bread plates, which had the remnants of a few of the appetizers. our forks were on those plates and we didn’t touch them again. meanwhile, after our appetizers, a table was seated right next to ours. they ordered drinks and food, and were served both without our server checking on us. i finally flagged him down and he hastily said the chef was working on ours. still didn’t clear our plates. more diners were served their food before i flagged him down again. 15-20 minutes had passed. at this point, i was extremely frustrated. he told us it was OUR fault, because our bread plates still had food on them, and so he ASSUMED we were still working on them! when he finally served us our food, he again made excuses, and showed us the ticket that he had waited to submit, because it “only takes 7 minutes for the chef to make.” so he got caught in a lie, because when he had told us 30+ minutes ago that the chef was working on them, he clearly wasn’t! he seemed so annoyed with us and then was over the top, non-genuinely, making excuses and rushing to get us the dessert menu when he gave us our food. i told him no thanks. so he gave us the check AS we’re still eating! my husband took pity on him and still tipped him generously. AFTER that he came over and asked if we had time for a complimentary dessert. NO THANK YOU! will DEFINITELY not be returning.

Wonderful venue! Amazing service and great food. Its very meat-heavy, which my friend loved. Wish there were more veggie options for me.

I'm visiting my sister from NM and taking her here for her birthday was perfect. Service is top notch, food is excellent, the vibes are chill, and the experience is worth it. Thank you for giving me and my sister an experience we won't forget.

Ended up making last minute reservations and was seated well before my given time. The server Simon was amazing. Made great recommendations, very easy to talk to and went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

Seattle has a lot of great restaurants: Barolo is my favorite, go-to restaurant when I am in town. Their ragu is the best I’ve ever had.
