Barrio Queen is the best restaurant in Phoenix for authentic Mexican food and craft cocktails. Our food pays homage to history and culture by serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine using traditional recipes from barrios throughout Mexico. Our extensive tequila and mezcal list set the stage for our array of fun, flavorful drinks. Each has a personality all its own!         Grilled steak tossed with a warm flavorful tocino vinaigrette and places on a bed of mixed field greens. Topped with tomatoes, crumbled bacon, goat cheese, roasted pumpkin seeds and homemade fried onions.

          Layers of romaine lettuce, queso fresco, diced red onions red peppers, avocado, grilled corn cut from the cob, epazote black beans, pomegranate seeds and barrio spiced corn tortilla chips. Served with a side or our homemade creamy roasted chipotle dressing. Vegetarian.

            A roasted poblano pepper filled with chicken, apples, pears, dried apricots, golden raisins, walnuts, onions and garlic. Covered in a delicate almond cream sauce, finished with the colors of the Mexican flag fresh cilantro, queso fresco, almond slices and pomegranate seeds. Served with chipotle mashed potatoes and calabacitas.

              The Queen's acclaimed pork is marinated in sour orange and achiote paste, wrapped in a banana leaf and slow cooked all night long. Topped with pickled red onions and homemade pico de gallo. Served with fresh hand-pressed corn tortillas, Mexican-style rice and epazote black beans.

                    Dinner took more than 3 hours and came out cold. Wait staff was trying very hard but restaurant seems short staffed and/or poorly run. Won’t return

                    The black mole sauce was extremely sweet, making it difficult to finish. The chicken in the fiesta bowl was very dry.

                    Barrio Queen is a real value with a great happy hour menu! My favorite is the guacamole made at your table with pomegranate! Delicious! The two tacos for $5 is a real bargain and my special treat is the Elotes corn side dish!

                    Very busy, service was very slow. It took a long time just to get water. The biggest let down was the $15 guacamole. They used 1/2 an avocado and it wasn’t even fully ripe and mashed! Burritos were not very big and had a very spicy aftertaste.

                    Our waiter was beyond horrible. He seemed irritated to do his job. My daughter & her boyfriend got waters and they both had to refills. He groaned several times like when I asked him refills on chips & salsa and my Arnold Palmer. He was grumpy, impolite and completely rude. We order sides of rice to which he ignored all together. The food was amazing. Hats off to chef and kitchen staff.
