Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

    My pear salad was okay. We sent back the charred broccoli because the first time it was cold. Better and hot the second time. The gnocchi was very spicy…too much so. And I like spicy, but too heavy handed with the hot stuff to really enjoy. The chicken Parmesan was loved. The bread service was great! The Burrata was yummy. The meatballs were an over done and dry on the outside. Disappointing for a birthday dinner.

    The service was amazing! Everyone was so attentive the whole evening. The spinach dumplings were so good as well as the lamb chops! The green beans were the only dish I was not fond of. They were overcooked and soggy but did have a good flavor. We were given a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

    The menu was described as family style or shared plates, despite the menu being laid out in the regular way (appetizers, pastas, meats). When the dishes came, they were all just about the size of a regular meal, so not sure why we were guided to order that way? We ended up ordering too much and had to take it home and it was definitely not inexpensive. It was also so loud that we couldn’t really have a conversation. The atmosphere was cool and the food was mostly mid to good (the ravioli was NOT). But we wouldn’t come back.

    This is our third time and it was just as amazing as the first. The recipes seem a little different but delicious nonetheless. Definitely one of our favorites!!

    We really enjoyed the evening and ambience of the restaurant. Don’t skip on the bread service with Ricotta and honey. What a great combination and super yummy. All of the food was really good.
