I'm a huge fan of José Andrés' restaurants, particularly Bazaar Meat. I also love, love, love seafood! Normally we stay at the Aria, Cosmo, or Vdara, so during our last visit to town when I saw they were constructing Bazaar Mar at the Crystal Shops I was excited for my next visit to Las Vegas.
TL;DR: this experience was disappointing.
FOOD: We chose to order a la carte rather than the tasting menu this time and selected quite a variety of dishes from the menu. While most were excellent, a few were just mid, nothing was bad. For our main course we ordered two whole fish, one fried and one grilled. I would expect since it took so long that the fish would be served hot. Unfortunately, they were served lukewarm at best. IDK, maybe it just sat there after being cooked before they brought it out of the kitchen. The fried fish was way too salty, and in contrast to that, the grilled one was bland, nothing about that fish tasted grilled at all.
SERVICE: My previous experiences with service at J.A. establishments has always been outstanding. Unfortunately, this time our server appeared either disinterested in serving or just not in the mood to provide good today, absolutely subpar. In contrast, the food runners, bussers, and hosts were awesome.
Overall, both the food and service were underwhelming and disappointing. It may have been an off night and given our previous positive experiences at other J.A. establishments, we will likely be back to Bazaar Mar for another try, anticipating a much better experience the next time around.
