I never write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in recent memory. I have never felt more rushed at dinner than we were at Beauty and Essex. We got seated at 7:00pm for our reservation and we were completely done with our meal by 7:40pm. We were a party of 4 and ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. When you go out for a nice dinner, which Beauty and Essex is based on the prices, you shouldn't feel rushed through the experience. Our waiter (more on later), gave us the typical spiel about getting our order all at once so that he could pace out the kitchen. Let me tell you, I hate when restaurants do this, only to have your order come out all at once or haphazardly as things are prepared. Our food showed up literally one on top of the other, with no time in between. It wasn't paced and we constantly had people coming to the table, dropping off dishes and picking up finished dishes. Additionally, the food wasn't all warm (for the dishes that should have been), so where have these dishes been sitting if they didn't take that long to get out. Do they make a bunch and have it sit? Did we get somebody else's dishes? Additionally, the brussels were completely inedible and tasted like they'd been drowned in vinegar.
Lastly, the waiter was not cordial and inattentive. He took our drink orders, my wife didn't like hers and wanted something else. The second drink didn't come and he wasn't to be found, so we told another waiter that she didn't want it anymore. Then all of a sudden, he pops up with the drink.
It was a terrible experience all together, not an enjoyable night that should've been paced appropriately for the price you pay. You don't want to feel like you're just a table to be turned. The food could all be good and some dishes were expectional, but also a lot of misses.
