Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

    Valentine's Day A La Carte reservation. This $50 per person deposit is a fixed fee to guarantee banquette seating, and may not be used towards food and beverage. If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason we ask that you do so by 10:00 pm the day prior to receive a refund. Any cancellations made after 10:00 pm will not be eligible for a refund. We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and look forward to seeing you soon! Please note that all banquette reservations have a 2 hour dining limit.

    All reservations require a deposit of $10 per person, regardless of the party size. This deposit will be taken off of the final bill at the end of your visit. Dress to impress! If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, we ask that you do so by 10pm the day prior in order to receive a refund by emailing NYBeautyInfo@TaoGroup.Com. Any cancellations made after 10pm will not be eligible for a refund. Please let us know in advance if your party decreases. Please note that all reservations have a 90 minute dining limit due to high demand. We will try our best to accommodate seating preferences or general requests but they are not guaranteed. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

    Our server was horrible. We sat for 20 minutes before she greeted us. Took our drink selections then another 20 mins went by and another server started helping us and took our food selections. After 5 more mins our drinks came from a 3rd server. The original server never came to check on us, we didn’t get any water refills and no one asked if we wanted another round of drinks. Almost an hour and a half of sitting there, someone came by and took our plates, Silverware and napkins. Finally we flag down the server to get the check and she asks….”would you like dessert”?? No ma’am with utensils and napkins gone I think we’re done. Check please….. Food was good but they’ll never see me again.

    Have been here many times and service is consistently poor. Also never can get seated by our reservation time & need to wait at least 30 extra minutes. People have places to be and for this to happen every single time is annoying. Waitress was also not kind and was extremely choppy with service.

    food is amazing as always, one of my favorite meals every time I’m in New York however, the restaurant was extremely cold and uncomfortable along with music That was way too loud and explicit language the whole time making me just wanna finish and leave.

    We booked a bar reservation for New Year’s Eve and intended to order ala carte. A few hours before our reservation, the restaurant contacted us and told us it was $150 pp pre-fixe and confirmed they will be serving their vegan menu so we accepted it. At the restaurant, the server told us to order from the menu and did not have the vegan options listed online. She didn’t explain to us that it was still $150 pp and we could order anything until midnight. We only found out when we asked for the check. Had we known we would have ordered accordingly and didn’t make plans to leave earlier. Service was soooo slow, server didn’t know anything and the food wasn’t even that great. This was my 7th time at Beauty & Essex and this was the worst. I won’t be back.
