Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boombox, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

Valentine's Day A La Carte reservation. This $50 per person deposit is a fixed fee to guarantee banquette seating, and may not be used towards food and beverage. If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason we ask that you do so by 10:00 pm the day prior to receive a refund. Any cancellations made after 10:00 pm will not be eligible for a refund. We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and look forward to seeing you soon! Please note that all banquette reservations have a 2 hour dining limit.

All reservations require a deposit of $10 per person, regardless of the party size. This deposit will be taken off of the final bill at the end of your visit. Dress to impress! If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, we ask that you do so by 10pm the day prior in order to receive a refund by emailing NYBeautyInfo@TaoGroup.Com. Any cancellations made after 10pm will not be eligible for a refund. Please let us know in advance if your party decreases. Please note that all reservations have a 90 minute dining limit due to high demand. We will try our best to accommodate seating preferences or general requests but they are not guaranteed. I celebrated my birthday here today! We did the Prefix brunch. Great value. Food was great and tasty. But for some reason the food was very slow to come out ? That's my only complaint

Had an 815 res, didn’t get seated until 9. Have us a complimentary round of amazing drinks. The cocktails we fantastic, all the food was terrific except some of the family portions we a bit small. Overall very good experience. Definitely will be back

A really great meal with super service in a lively atmosphere. Don't be put off by the quirky entrance via a "pawn shop" - walk in and you are guided into a cool bar and a large dining room. The food is very delicious- fresh, zingy with a creative menu. The portions are good sizes and the desserts are HUGE! One is enough for 2 people and the peanut butter cake might serve 4!

Fun atmosphere, excellent service. Loved the number of vegan options. Nice variety of options for everyone and all designed to share. Tables are a little too close and tight but other than that a nice room.

They asked us to leave the restaurant outside while waiting for the uber. They couldn’t wait 3 mins and the security person very rude pushed us outside of the restaurant entrance as it was incredibly cold we didn’t want to wait outside. Crazy after you pay a $700 check for 4 people couldn’t let us be there for our car.

Been wanting to come here for years and was very disappointed. The atmosphere and vibes were great but the food and service was not impressive, especially for the price. The food was very plain and flavorless. As for the service our waiter was super impatient with us and were asked a few times if we were done eating when it was clear we were still eating... I’m sorry to say I would not recommend this place which is disappointing since I’ve been eyeing this place for years.

Amazing experience. Literally the best food we’ve ever had. We ended up going Friday AND Saturday during our weekend trip into NYC!

The novelty of it being a fancy restaurant behind a pawnshop front was what drew us here, but we also had a really really good experience. This restaurant has to be the one of the prettiest restaurants we’ve ever been to. My husband and I had the prix fixe, which we figured was the best way to try as many of the dishes as possible without getting too full. The food was absolutely delicious! For appetizers we had the Thai Style Deep Fried Shrimp and Little French Dips. I preferred the former over the latter. Our entrees were Lamb Chops and Wild Mushroom Ravioli. i have to say the mushroom ravioli was probably THE best we have ever had. Our sides were truffle mac and cheese and bbq fries, and for dessert we had the LES NYC doughnuts (which come with dark chocolate fudge, berry, and caramel dips) and the black bottom butterscotch pot de creme. The desserts are defintely a cut above the rest. We highly recommend this place! We’ll be coming back someday!
