Beeside Balcony is a hidden gem in old Del Mar, CA with a relaxed seaside chic décor where guests enjoy global mediterranean cuisine and ocean views from the covered outside balcony.

A third generation chef of Spanish and Italian descent, and hailing form Paris, France, Christophe's restaurant career began at 17 in the kitchen of his father's restaurant in Pasadena when they first emigrated to the USA. Upon returning to southern California in 2011, Christophe spent 8 years as the managing partner of Eddie V's Prime Seafood in La Jolla. Here he deepened his knowledge of sourcing and cooking the freshest seafood available, while delivering world class service. The laid back coastal vibe of Del Mar, combined with the attention to detail from Christophe's fine dining background, infuses Beeside Balcony with an easy elegance that elevates any gathering, and makes the perfect backdrop to showcase his global mediterranean menu.

The shrimp linguine was delicious, and had such a generous amount of large shrimp! Dish had great flavor, and the sauce was perfect. The rosemary feta fries were so creative and delicious - they were a hit! The truffle ketchup paired with it was perfect as well. Our waitress was so kind, and brought my friend a special free treat for her birthday. Love Beeside :)

Great restaurant overall! Family owned, waiters and waitresses speak English fluently and know the menu very well and smile! Food was fabulous. We had the Bee Board appetizer, which at $27 is a bit pricey but it was delicious. The jam and stone ground mustard and olives stand out. We also ordered the Branzinno and a risotto seafood dish similar to paella. Both were perfecto - except some of tue octopus in the paella was a bit on the chewy side and paella portion a bit on the small side. Otherwise perfectly prepared, served and happily consumed. Beside had made it to our must return list!

Certainly, the burger has to be one of the best in all of San Diego, and their pita is incredibly delicious as well. We had the pita with their trio of dips (red pepper, hummus and artichoke) and we of course, wanted more! Service gets an A+ because their timing and kindness are just wonderful. What a lovely and stellar lunch we had on such a beautiful day in Del Mar!

Service was great, trio dip & naan bread were great. Tofu & veggie dish not so much, heavy batter on tofu and veggies had zero flavor, no sauce nothing.

This is not anymore the place we loved and went to frequently in 2015-2022. Just 2 examples: 1. Their PE Clams, used to be a highlight of the menu, prepared following traditional European (Belgian) style and served in a light flavorful soup with rustic and very tasty bread slices, are now flavorless mollusks floating in a very heavy fat and oily liquid that is impossible to enjoy, supplemented by slices of bread heavily soaked in some kind of oil. 2. Their simple Truffle fries are now lacking the very essence of the side dish: the taste of truffles. Our friends from the East coast had octopus ceviche and salmon appetizer and found them as just mediocre. I am guessing that with the opening of a La Jolla location, the original chef moved there, or something else of this kind has happened. Service was excellent - thank you Christina. Very disappointed and unfortunately will not go there again.
