Bellanico Restaurant & Wine Bar saves some tables for walk-ins, please call Bellanico directly for large party reservations. Bellanico is a continuation of Chris Shepherd & Elizabeth Frumusa’s successful restaurant in San Francisco, Aperto in Potrero Hill. Bellanico is a neighborhood restaurant located in the Glenview district of Oakland. The name Bellanico is derived from their daughters’ nicknames, Bella & Nico. The Bellanico staff take great pride in food, service and wine. We serve rustic Italian cuisine that changes seasonally. We are dedicated to serving the best seasonal, local, sustainable and organic products that they can find. Bellanico features Pitman Farms Chicken, Prather Ranch Meat, Duroc Pork and only wild caught fish and seafood. It also features a wine bar offering Old World wines with an emphasis on Italian wines. There are more than 25 wines by the glass & 6 different flights of wine.

    Bellanico is a neighborhood gem. This visit was during Oakland's restaurant week. The dinner menu offerings provided extremely nice choices, and the food was fabulous. Service was great - it was friendly, we did not feel rushed, but the meal was very nicely paced. Bellanico also has a nice selection of champagne and wines by the glass. If you are ever there for a weekend brunch - don't miss the carbonara - a favorite!

    Always excellent food, creative chef, and knowledgeable servers. We overheard ( never told directly) that they were short-staffed 3/22. Nonetheless, ALL the employees persevered with attentiveness ~~ KUDOS to them! They were moving at lightning speed! We enjoyed duck liver pate, mussels & sausage, rabbit casoncelli ravioli (over the moon tasty!), incredible swordfish though with insufficient veggies. The swordfish was amazingly moist and firm ~~grilled to perfection! BUT. The plastic chairs on patio are disgraceful ~~each and every single one is in shreds and what is left is sagging! A very successful restaurant can offer more respectful accommodations. Yes, we’ll be back: craving the food, braced for noise inside and outside, and bringing seat cushions.

    Comfortable neighborhood vibe: senior couples, families with young children, and solo diners all enjoying food & drink. Chose outdoor seating: perfect weather - no need for the tarps & heaters they had at the ready. Got happy hour appetizer plus restaurant week prix fixe menu....creative, fresh ingredients, well presented, and tasty. My designated server was friendly and informative; but multiple servers stopped by as they all worked together as a team. Meal portions generous enough that went home with boxed up bonus meal. Visited them before, and will absolutely do so again.

    Everything that we chose off the menu was perfectly cooked, delicious and beautifully presented. The quality of the food was excellent, extremely fresh and flavorful. The staff were very friendly and the service was extremely good ! The atmosphere was lovely, warm, inviting and enjoyable and the noise level was low to moderate. Bellanico Restaurant and Wine Bar is in our neighborhood and we love to eat there and bring our friends who also enjoy the delicious food, the friendly, professional service and comfortable, casual, friendly ambiance.

    We were outside so there was some street noise. But the heaters were pleasant and the food good. Wine and dessert were excellent!!! Pasta was fresh.
