Our focus is on delivering delicious local Northumbrian produce in a warm and welcoming environment. Our day menu (which operates on a walk-in basis only) is full of local favourites. Whether you are looking for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch or just some delicious coffee and cake we have something for everyone.

Transitioning into our evening bistro service from 5.30pm onwards, we present a refined yet flavourful menu. Our chefs select trusted local suppliers renowned for procuring the finest quality ingredients, which they craft into irresistible dishes for your enjoyment. Complemented by an extensive wine selection, our offerings provide the ideal blend for a laid-back evening of exquisite dining.

We had a fabulous meal celebrating recent birthdays! Our lovely waiter Tim was SO intuitive and knowledgeable…quietly super efficient! Our 2-course meal with Prosecco was absolutely the best! Can’t wait to return and try other dishes from the menu. Lovely midweek treat 🎉

We had a lovely evening at Bertram’s restaurant, the staff were very welcoming nothing was too much trouble. The chef, cooked my chips extra chrispy because that’s how I like them. Lovely food, definitely will return.

Fabulous food. We had the sea bass and roe deer, both were gorgeous and the wine was lovely. We will be back and will recommend to friends.

Great staff, food perfect. The main restaurant is actually next to the food service bar, which can be noisy when staff are disposing of bottles etc. It can also be drafty when sitting in this area. The dog friendly area would be quieter and warmer.

Evening Bistro is very welcoming to dogs (and their owners). The quality of food reflects the excellent quality of the daytime cafe. Thoroughly recommended.

Very friendly service, tasty food. Only criticism would be I was looking for a lighter bite due to a health condition, but all the portions were quite large and therefore a little over-facing. I realise this wouldn’t be a problem for most people! Decor and ambience very nice and stylish.
