Bettys is famous for afternoon tea, and if you want to experience the finest we offer, book your table in the Imperial Room, Harrogate.

These beautiful, historic rooms - located on the first floor of our Harrogate tea room- are steeped in history and provide the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea.

You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a lavish selection of dainty sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible miniature cakes and scones.

Put aside any concerns you may have about not feeling full: we’ll happily bring another pot of tea and a few more sandwiches to make sure you leave feeling content.

You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a lavish selection of dainty sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible miniature cakes and scones. Set menu: A selection of savouries, Sandwiches; Tarragon egg mayonnaise, Ham, Fountain’s Gold cheddar and caramelised apple & Yorkshire cider chutney and Coronation chicken with apricots , a miniature plain and sour cherry scone, Miniature Cakes; Chocolate & praline mousse, Blackcurrant slice and Spiced orange macaroon.

Unfortunately our experience was pretty poor. We were celebrating our Daughter in Laws 30th Birthday and as she is American she loves English traditions and was really looking forward to this experience. We were seated right next to the preparation area that was screened off but we could hear the cutlery being sorted and the chatter from the staff. We definitely could not hear the pianist. We had to ask for plates for our sweets and we were not asked if we would like more drinks until right at the end when we had finished eating. The lady server who brought out our Daughter in laws fondant cake with a candle in was really lovely and she was very attentive, it’s a shame she was not our server throughout. There were actually plenty of free tables so they were not really busy and we could have been seated at a better table. We felt as though we were being treated as last minute walk-in guests who were seated out of the way on the last available table and not guests who had booked months in advance. The price we paid was unfortunately not worth the service we received.

Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. We were well looked after, the food was excellent quality and great menu choice and we weren’t rushed. A lovely, special experience in a beautiful setting!

From our arrival to our departure, the whole experience was delightful. Lena and the whole team made our afternoon tea perfect. We'd highly recommend Betty's and it's definitely worth a visit.

This is our 2nd time visiting, and the food, service and setting has always been outstanding - 10/10. We were served by James (both times) and Louie? (Sorry if the spelling isn’t right) this most recent time, not to mention the lady hosting (whose name also escapes me, SORRY) - all a credit to the place! We always feel welcome and catered for, and can’t wait to come back again and again.

Food stodgy, very sweet, cloying. Sandwiches thick and stodgy: thick ham plus thick cheese plus other filling bears no relation to a dainty, Edwardian tea. Service: waiting staff doing their best but clearly exhausted. The young girl who cleared our table certainly had not been trained: she cleared ACROSS the diner instead of from one side, it felt cafeteria style and rather rude. Altogether: disappointing and very expensive.

Isla who was our waitress is a credit to Betty’s as she was vet attentive and polite. As it was my birthday I had Happy Birthday played on the piano and a cake.
