Bettys is famous for afternoon tea, and if you want to experience the finest we offer, book your table in the Belmont Room, York. This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones. Betty’s has a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive. The overall customer experience is good, however the food and value for money factor is disappointing. There are no halal options which is disappointing as a venue of this caliber should accommodate to all dietary requirements. There were also no seas food options - again disappointing as most afternoon venues will always offer some form of seafood. The portions are very small, this doesn’t warrant the price we paid.

Bought as a Christmas present for my wife and I and have to say thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This meant we didn’t have to queue as we’ve seen happen previously. Although the afternoon tea tiers don’t look much, we found it filling so much so we had take away the sweet treats to consume later. Excellent service and there was no sense of eat up and leave. Also enjoyed the piano playing in the background. Highly recomnend a visit.

Very well organised and easy to book in a first instance. Managed to reserve my table and followed by two reminders and a final confirmation for attendance. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the staff members and from start to finish it was a great experience for afternoon tea. There’s a great selection on the menu and they are very good at checking if there are any allergies and things to be aware of i.e. special occasion or any dietary requirements, etc. All the staff there are very consistent friendly and professional and made my afternoon tea for enjoyable. The atmosphere was wonderful very nicely laid out did didn’t feel too for more not too laid-back. It was very nicely done. I was at ease and felt very comfortable. Food quality was great and nice selection from the afternoon tea which I thoroughly enjoyed and there was a nice surprise with the scones. It was my first time experiencing a sour cherry scone which was very interesting and I would love to have it again in the future. Rest of the food from the afternoon tea was amazing and a great selection of tea and drinks to choose from. This was a wonderful experience and great value for me as well and I’ll definitely return again. I have been to Betty’s a few times and also different branches. I have to admit the service and the food quality is consistent all over.

Paid £50pp and it was overpriced. We both asked for milk & only 1 tiny jug was brought, so we had to ask for another. No butter brought to butter the scone. And no toilet roll in the ladies loo (twice).

Extremely enjoyable experience overall - both in terms of food and ambience - to celebrate a friend's birthday., Staff friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Great music being played on the piano.

I've waited 30 years to have the Betty's experience. I was not disappointed. Throughly enjoyed it. Perfect treat if your in York and want something a little different to all the pubs and restaurants.

Fantastic as always - from the welcome to leaving everything was very good. Food beautifully presented, our waitress (sorry I forgot her name) was extremely helpful and professional. The piano music was mot enjoyable.
