Overlooking the San Antonio River Walk since 2000, Bruce Auden’s Biga on the Banks continues to charm San Antonio foodies and Alamo City visitors with its constantly-changing new American menu featuring the best ingredients South Texas has to offer.

It has been said that Bruce Auden has “put San Antonio on the culinary map” but this Chef is just getting started. The Biga menu features fresh caught fish like Mahi Mahi, True American Red Snapper and Ahi Tuna. Main stays on the menu usually include Hill Country Venison and Bandera Quail, Grilled Australian Rack of Lamb and Roasted Bell & Evans Chicken.

The dining room is modern with a casual-well informed style of service.

The wine list is eclectic and broad with hundreds of labels and the full bar offers craft cocktails.

OpenTable美食編輯： When he opened Biga in 1991, London-born chef Bruce Auden kicked off a new era of fine dining in San Antonio, amassing a huge celebrity following (Julia Child, Emeril Lagasse) and racking up several James Beard nominations. In 2000, the restaurant moved to a bigger space with sweeping Riverwalk views, the perfect setting for Auden’s ever-changing global menu with Texas accents—think spiced antelope and quail, habañero jerk scallops, and za’atar roasted cauliflower.

Our server, Robin, was fantastic. The salads were great, as were our cheese tray and bread service. Our group of five ordered the Roasted Chicken, Denver Shoulder, a kids pasta marinara (no protein), and two sides as an entree for mom—- fried oysters plus the jerk shrimp. The only entrees which left anything to be desired was the pasta…the sauce was pretty watery. For dessert, we ordered the sorbet sampler, apple cobbler, and key lime pie. It was surprisingly good that the key lime pie was a warm dessert. The mixed drinks were all great and overall, we had a lovely evening with wonderful service and attention. Biga did not disappoint.

Over priced prefixed 2 hour meal. The main ingredient was fine but not enough attention to the whole plate.

A fantastic restaurant with superb food. We were there on Valentines and there were wonderful choices in the fixed price menu, not always the case on special event days in other restaurants. Highly recommend.

They were flexible with my reservation as our group was running late from a convention. That was great. My favorite feature they offer is half serving sizes for most of their entrees. This was so nice it allowed my wife and I to try different entrees and share.

Kitchen took care of us. Sent out several options gratis. Plate ups were nice, and precise. Server was attentive and professional. Ambience was intimate. Great for a date night. Food was seasoned and cooked well. Thank you Biga team.

We will definitely be returning customers. The food was EXCELLENT. It’s obvious that the chef cares about what is included with each menu item. Every plate we received we promptly cleared. Absolutely delicious, no comments. We had the escargot for the app, STX antelope and the rack of lamb for mains and the dessert sampler. The waitress was attentive and had great customer service. Highly recommend!!
