Binchotan: Bar & Grill is a gathering place for friends and family to enjoy a fresh take on Asian cuisine. Our menu features the time-honored tradition of grilling meat, seafood and produce over an open flame.                                                                 Food was great, service was good, the location is at the Fairmont orchid, so the surroundings were pretty. My only complete would be that I was putting in a table where there was not much light. They give you a little light to put on your table, but it wasn’t enough.

                                                                First I have to say that the staff is very friendly! But for a 5 star resort the food is not quite up to par. That the prices are a bit higher is to be expected but the food should match that. The chicken kraage was ok, a bit dry, we‘ve had much better at other places. The lemon aioli is nice tho. My pork belly fried rice was tasty and had a lot of rice BUT only 2 small pieces of pork belly. My husband had the robatayaki traditional and was underwhelmed with the small pieces of meat and fish. Also, I had mentioned our Anniversary when booking and while the hostess said happy Anniversary while seating us, never have we ever not gotten a little appetizer, dessert or drink on the house for a special occasion.

                                                                First impression walking in was amazing, this is going to be a great meal. The waiter was attentive so no complaints there. Drinks were well below average. And they were $26 each. To have a drink overlooking the ocean, I’m not happy to pay $26 but I accept it. I would just ask that it be well-balanced. martini was luke warm and the high ball tasted overwhelmingly like ginger ale and melted ice :/ Meal was so/so. Sushi roll was a 6/10, glazed mahi mahi bowl was overcooked and under seasoned 5/10. Great potential because of the ambiance and location, but as many other commenters have said, poor execution on the food and drinks

                                                                The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend. Decent value considering the high prices prevalent in this area.

                                                                Both entrees had to be returned but the restaurant manager was gracious and made the dinner a positive one.

                                                                I was very hopeful reading the menu and thinking about the descriptions of menu items. Ambiance was great and service, while not the best was acceptable. What I was most unhappy with was the quality of food. Even in Hawaii, at $86 for a ribeye, you would expect a great piece of steak. It arrived with a lot of gristle, overdone, and tough. Maybe 25% of the cut was good. This is at a 4 star resort and should be a great experience. Fairmont, you can do a lot better.

                                                                The overall service was terrible along with the Rib Eye steak. Neither my wife or myself finished our meals and left over half the steak. An hour and a half later our table was cleaned off and we were never asked hiw the meal was or if anything was wrong. Sad sad foid and dining experience

                                                                We are here a few nights ago and it was amazing. Everything was delicious and the service was the best. Tonight was good, but not great. My husband got the ribeye and asked for medium…it was very well done. The salt and pepper lobster came breaded in a batter that tasted pretty floury. The wagyu hot rock was still incredible, though…order it, you can thank me later ;)

                                                                We chose the traditional robatayaki experience for 2. It was brought to our table on a small grill. Everything was already cooked. I misunderstood I guess. I thought it was to be cooked table side. It included mahi mahi, beef, chicken, shrimp & mushrooms & asparagus. It came with white rice, but we upgraded to the crab fried rice. It was a lot of food! We easily could have done with one skewer of each to share instead of 2. Next time I would order the fried rice & 2 skewers & that would be enough for us. you could always order in shifts, depending on how hungry you were.Service was great & my favorite was the crab fried rice & the beef & shrimp skewers. We sat on the patio & they lit the torches & turned on the string lights. It was very pretty.
