We ate at Black & Blue for the first time last night. It is a beautiful place — the bar is sensational and the vibe is terrific. Our servers were attentive and everything ran like clockwork. The only problem was the food — and it’s a serious problem. The lobster and crab fondue could have been amazing, but the bread was super-over toasted (a theme) and the whole dish was over salted. The main courses were similarly problematic. My wife’s steak was good (not great) and at these prices it needs to be great. My black grouper was so over-cooked I could have bounced it on the floor like a ball. The presentation was attractive but the vegetables with it were way too salty. The asparagus was actually excellent and the wine list had some very cool bottles (we had a Molly Dooker Blue Eyed Boy that we really enjoyed). We’ll go back for drinks — but it will be a while before we try the food again.

Very loud- very crowded for a weekday evening. difficulty hearing my own table. the staff work hard. Crab cake would have been better if there was not a salt garnish on the plate, I recommend serving the salt in a small dish on the plate not loose as it ruined the crab cake. They made my salad 3x 1st over dressed when asked for it on the side. 2nd arrived with bacon but asked for it without. 3rd time was a charm but they forgot the lump crab. Tuna tar tar was good fish but otherwise meh. steaks were. AMAZING. I would go back and try again

Thank you for your review Jill. We have been very busy almost every night we've been open and especially so during the holiday season. I apologize that we didn't execute your salad order properly, but glad to hear the team did work hard trying to get it right. The chefs are working on improvements to the crab cake already. We do appreciate your feedback on that. I am pleased that you enjoyed the steaks and plan to return. Hope to see you again soon!

Our first visit was great! Each of our meals were perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and helpful. We will be back!!

I was in the restaurant 28min before I was offered a drink, which arrived at 39min. This is the second time this happened. (First was opening week, with large party that waited 19min to ask for drink order). This needs to get fixed. Generally the restaurant, ambience, and food quality is good, however management needs to work on how the welcome their customers. Most patrons are pleased to be patient, once they’ve been welcomed and offered a drink

What a beautiful new restaurant in Wellesley Square! It is absolutely gorgeous. Huge, beautiful bar area with lots of tables for dinner too. Service was outstanding. Food was absolutely delicious. A little pricey, but nothing more outrageous than other fine restaurants in the area. Will definitely go back.

Our server Shannon was great, her assistant/attendant was wonderful & knowledgeable also. Shannon paid very close attention to my allergies and was responsive to my questions with confident answers. Both courses of food tasted great, great wine selection, and wonderful decor. Its like an old mill building with the comforts & warmth of home! Enjoy
