Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old brothel, we take the best meat in the country from the award winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our real charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails that give back and wine on tap in our atmospheric subterranean chop mecca. On Sundays we serve a Sunday Roast almost as good as Mum's.

Bookings up to 6 guests (Friday)

Well it's safe to say that it's definitely worth all the hype! After booking a good few months in advance we finally came down for our Christmas Sunday dinner! The staff there are super friendly and always checking in and cleaning tables, and the atmosphere was incredibly cosy! When the food came, the man was really lovely and explained where each piece of meat was before leaving us to enjoy. The food was unbelievable I have honestly never had food like it, especially a Sunday roast upto that standard! I have never had beef with such flavour, and the Pork was the best I have ever had. We where both too stuffed for dessert but wow was it great! My only nitpick is that my cocktail was tiny, but it was very strong. Personally I prefer my drinks a bit bigger and less strong but that's a preference! Overall it was the best roast I have ever had! Would definitely recommend!

Tout était parfait! Le staff était super sympathique. Le service était excellent, l’ambiance avec musique des années 80, c’était génial et la nourriture très goûteuse, chaude et des portions généreuses

We came for a Sunday roast. The venue itself is tiny and crowded. Went for the shared roast platter. Pork and potatoes were nicely cooked. Lamb was a bit too rare. Beef was ok. Gravy was nice. Barely much carrots and greens. They looked sparse and overdone. For £27 pp food was average. Our waitress was giving headmistress vibes. We smiled and said thank you when she bought our food over. Not much back from her. The blonde waitress was friendlier. I appreciate it was a busy day/service. But I suspect the non-Sunday roast menu/service might be better value for money. Venue was also very noisy. I don’t think it’s a great place for a Sunday roast tbh. Better off going to the local pub.

Steaks were well cooked however the quality of the meat wasn’t great. Rump comes pre sliced so all the juices had run out by the time you eat it. Service was excellent and friendly
