The Blue Eyed Maid story began 100's of years ago in the days when the Capital of England was in Winchester and the City of London was booming with real trade and merchants. When the Kings and Princes used to travel to the City and when they had to stay on the South bank of the Thames to freshen up after their long journey and before attending to their business matters.

The story goes that one of the Kings stayed in one of the Inns on this very road where he fell in love with a maid who (guess!) had the most beautiful blue eyes that captured the King’s heart. How this story went we do not know. If you, on the other hand, know or heard anything about the Blue Eyed Maid story please do let us know.

Bought 2 voucher in living social for £19 each. Good was okay ( frozen calamari, gammon steak ( thought was the safest option ) and brownie ( store bought ) . Busy downstairs cause of the football match. Waiter came to check food but nothing special to said. Prosecco was good

Booked a table via OpenTable. Confirmed booking day before. Turned up on the day and no booking found. No effort to find either. Left. Won't return.

Dodgy as hell! This place was so weird and very unsanitary. They ignore you when you walk in, all seemed like they were away in the clouds having to repeat things several times. No focus from the staff as they had no clue what theybwere doig. Very weirdly laid out dining area with broken chairs. Entrance to restaurant right next to a large open door toilet!! Place smelled of weed! Just such an odd experience id never want ithers to endure. Suggestion is do a renovation, get in some competant staff and clean the place!

We had to wait that the manager approval to open the restaurant. Down is a pub and upstairs restaurant. The place is not clear !!

Terrible. Table was booked but they had no space for us so had to sit in bar area downstairs. No ambience and grubby. Had to order food at bar which turned up cold for one of us and incorrect for the other one! Decor , cleanliness, service and staff were poor. Would not recommend this establishment at all ! Appalling experience- never to be repeated !!!!

Went with a groupon voucher. The only good thing was the price and also the bottle of prosecco. Had expected something great from the website but was disappointed with most of the experience. Needs clean and restoration. Food was less than average.

Tried to go there and assigned for a table for 4 as our booking, but only one staff doing all the job. And she assigned us next to the front door, and a drunk man came over and scared my 2 kids.., we left the restaurant immediately.. without trying anything..the place is horrible and no staff to support us there... beware that restaurant!

We sat in on early New Year’s Eve. It was a very personal experience. We are from the three course menu, we had the calamari, fish cakes, ribs, chops, pancakes and crumble. It was very delicious would definitely eat there the again. The marinade for the ribs was very unique and tasty!
