The lunch deal came at a good price bur the food element was disappointing. The fish in the fish and chips was mainly batter, with very little fish. One of our party who was not using the deal was charged £2 for a soda water, which compares very badly with other pubs. The service can best be described as indifferent. We waited a long time on arrival before anyone spoke to us, even though there was one person not dealing with other customers behind the bar. When we told the staff about the missing fish aftee the meal, our concerns were dismissed out of hand. We are unlikely to be returning any time soon, which is a shame as it is a place we have often used as a lunch stop on walks in the area.

Booked here for Sunday lunch. This is a nice traditional type of pub. We were sat at a table which was just big enough for the four of us. Food was ordered at the bar and then served to you at the table. Food was plentiful and good. Service was friendly. Would I go again - yes if I was nearby but wouldn’t make a special journey to go.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I pass this pub frequently & have often thought of trying it, so last Saturday my friends & I decided that the Boar is where we would dine & watch the football. We weren't disappointed on any level; the the ambiance, the beer, the food or the football. All excellent! The landlord, Simon, even joined us to give us the benefit of his expert critical summary of England's performance The Boar's Head will be our venue of choice for the final of the Euros (what do you mean if?...............of course we'll make it)

Food was lovely and very reasonably price. Staff were friendly and helpful 😊 and it’s dog friendly which is always a bonus 🐶 would highly recommend 🎉

Staying in a nearby apartment and needed dinner after a long joy from the south coast. Easy to book online, good choice of food, husband happy to drink Wainwright. Staff were friendly and efficient.

We have visited a few times now, usually for Sunday lunch. The meals are freshly prepared and traditional. If you are into cask-conditioned ales, they have a small, but high quality selection on hand pumps. Although it isn't located too far from built up areas, it retains the feel of a country pub.
