Bob’s Steak & Chop House – La Costa is a nationally renowned steak house specializing in the finest corn-fed, Midwestern prime beef. Bob's was so disappointing. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. Our waiter did not tell us the specials until I asked when he came to take our order. I ordered the fish special, but it came out cold. I sent it back, and the kitchen just heated the dish up, but it was just room temperature at that point. A $70 piece of fish should have been remade. We also ordered a salad to share, which should have been divided, but was just plopped down between us with no sharing plates to go with it. There was no offer for a dessert for my husband's birthday, which was fine, but again, it was a special day.

I must say that I was very impressed with the entire experience at Bob’s Steak House/La Costa resort. The service was outstanding and our server Antonio was very accommodating and gave us great recommendations which we found to be most appetizing. The cocktails were amazing and the food was excellent . Everything within the resort boundaries was top notch. However, when we got back to our room to enjoy our leftovers, I found a large piece of plastic in the creamed spinach which was very disappointing considering the price of the meal. Aside from that, great experience and would probably return. Just make sure you check your to go box before digging in.

Waiter was exceptional. Aidan - you are by far the best waiter we have ever had at Bob’s. This was a celebratory birthday dinner for our son. He and I both ordered the huge pork chop; mine medium and his well done. Unfortunately the birthday boy’s portion was much smaller than mine. However, he will enjoy my take-home this evening. Bob’s treated him to a dessert of his choice - a huge slice of cheesecake - candle and all. Bobs continues to be our go-to restaurant for celebrations: birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s, and of course New Year’s Eve.

We were originally seated in the bar area, our choice. The noise level was incredible. We could not hear each other speak. So we moved into the dining room. Much but still cold. Food and service was great.

We dined there with friends. The drinks were good. The appetizers were good. The filets were good but my husband’s steak was terrible. He got the ribeye. He is not one to send it back… but it was not good… and I’m pretty sure we won’t go back anytime soon. Very disappointing. We were there with great company so we did have a good time!

From the greeting at the door, the evening was memorable. But then again at $100 a head, it is expected to be memorable. The quality of the meats and seafood along with the appetizers may get a go to place for us.
