Bodega SF is an evolution of Matthew Ho’s family's restaurant, Bodega Bistro, which operated from 2003-2017 out of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, serving traditional Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The brand’s success continued as Ho organized pop-up events, eventually transitioning to meal packages throughout the pandemic to meet demand. In 2022, Ho and his partners opened Bodega SF’s brick-and-mortar location, again located in the Tenderloin District, bringing high-quality Vietnamese cuisine back to the community with a modernized, casual fine dining experience. The family-style concept allows visitors to sample its variety of authentic, creative dishes.

The food is amazing. Bun cha was on point and so were the spring rolls. Pho Bo was better Pho Hanoi.

It was delicious! So many flavors to enjoy and the service was fantastic from Vicky at the front, Kyle behind the bar and Emmy who was our server. The team was very informed about the food/what to recommend. I’m looking forward to my return 😊

Hostess worked with me hours ahead of my reservation to accommodate a large party. I’ve never had a restaurant put in that much effort into making sure I had a good experience.

We went for lunch for restaurant week and overall the experience was slightly disappointing. We found out they were busy filling a catering order and that slowed down service for us. Additionally the appetizer we were served was burnt on the bottom. Otherwise the food was good but not memorable. With many other good Vietnamese restaurants in San Francisco, I doubt we will return.

My boyfriend & I had a great time at Bodega. The staff was on top of everything and even took a photo of us to commemorate our anniversary. The waiter checked up on us often, the food was served quickly & we were never without water. I loved my Saigon Smash cocktail & so did he but neither of us enjoyed his Gimlet. We ordered several dishes & loved 2 of them. 1 or 2 of them we could’ve done without. That’s my mistake though for ordering a pork dish when I don’t like pork 🙃 my boyfriend didn’t enjoy that dish either but the Bo Luc Lac was incredible. We are still thinking about how tender & juicy the meat was. Seasoned to perfection. I had some crab roll with vermicelli that was delicious too. I’d love to go back with a friend. My boyfriend wouldn’t but it really depends on the food you like. I love crab & was very happy with the tenderloin. He just loves steak & thinks crab is ok. 100% recommend and will come again
