Such a disappointing letdown. I took my wife and some family here for a birthday dinner, and from the reviews, pictures, and appealing menu, we were all excited to go.
Let me start with the good:
Beautiful ambience! The decor was authentic and screamed traditional style. Nicely situated a few blocks from SoJo Spa. It wasn’t too loud indoors, it was actually surprisingly empty for a Saturday night. Our waitress was amazing and catered to our every need and was very polite. The drinks were also a hit.
For the bad:
The menu is what drew us in, and we had high expectations given the plate prices. The starters were ok, we had the shrimp(best of the starters), the filet tips, wings, and the “margarita pizza” (ended up being a regular pizza, no basil or any attributes of a traditional margarita pizza, however, it was good nonetheless), and mussels, (had to send back as most were cold). Our entrees were the biggest disappointment. I ordered the spicy chicken and pasta, not much of a complaint there, others had lobster ravioli, which came with shrimp but we couldn’t tell if there was actual lobster in the ravioli, the surf and turf (lacked flavor and was overcooked), and the braised short-ribs (ok but average tasting). Now I wouldn’t say any of it was horrible or even bad, but it all fell flat and did not live up to the price.
Overall, we had a great time there and I wish I could give more stars because there’s so much potential, but I just was expecting more.
