“Arguably the best oyster bar of any white tablecloth restaurant in New Orleans” per the Times-Picayune, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House is all about local seafood. If it’s not in season, you won’t find it on the menu. Enjoy authentic New Orleans dishes and oysters on the half-shell in a lively atmosphere overlooking Bourbon Street.

Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.

Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with 200 bourbons on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a specialty cocktail or a straight pour of that hard to find small-batch whiskey.

    We came for Thanksgiving dinner. Our waiter was very courteous and provided several recommendations. We ordered from the Thanksgiving menu, which was delicious! We also had the muffaletta flatbread and blackened gulf fish (it was barracuda for us) which was flaky and tender. Would recommend all of it!

    Amazing food. Server was very kind. We had both thanksgiving meals (turkey and ham) and shared as well as charbroiled oysters and the Pechauds (sp) bourbon cocktail who he as delicious. A great experience.

    The food was disappointing. We started with the Shrimp and Crabmeat Boudin Balls. Not much flavor. We also had the Crab Claws which was excellant. Gumbo was disappointing. Then we had the Stuffed fish with Mirliton, Sbrimp and Grits and Shrimp and Fish Platter. The Ahrimp and Fish Platter was by far the best.

    Bourbon Street cocktail was interesting; not quite what I expected, but tasty. Crab Claws Bordelaise, Bourbon Glazed Shrimp, Stuffed Gulf Fish, and Alligator Rigatoni were all excellent. Our server, Katie B., was excellent; very knowledgeable and friendly.

    The location itself is great and very convenient, but the service, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired. After being seated, we waited for over an hour for our order to be fulfilled, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Additionally, no one approached our table for at least 15 - 20 minutes after we sat down. When we requested drinks, it felt like they were brought from a neighboring restaurant rather than the bar. We also didn’t have the best experience with the oysters, but the manager was attentive and took the time to listen to our concerns, which we appreciated.

    First of all, we ordered raw oysters. I asked for them to specifically be shucked fresh. They came out in like 1 minute. They were not freshly shucked. They were taken off the tray of already shucked oysters. I am local I know what freshly shucked oysters look like. In addition, the oysters were very small!!! Just a pitiful product. If you want good local oysters, go to Mr. Ed's. Maybe Felix's across the street , but I find those hit or miss as well. My guest was from Georgia. I suggested some other places in the quarter as I view the Bourbon House as a tourist trap. He wanted to go here since this restaurant is part of the bourbon society. He tried to order 4 different bourbons and they were out of all 4!!!! How embarrassing. He settled for Woodford. His comment was" i have this at my house" The food was good, not great. To top it off, they tried to charge us for one of the bourbon's they did not have. This is typical of a tourist trap place. Trying to get as much money out of you as possible. It is sad as Dickie Brennan is good restaurateur. This place misses the mark.

    We have dined here several times over the years and always enjoyed Bourbon House. This time they were under staffed on a Tuesday night. The menu selection seemed smaller than before as well. Not bad but not as good as before.
