We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Bóveda by Chef Carol Reyes, and it was one of those evenings we’ll never forget. From the moment we stepped in, the space felt magical—beautifully designed, intimate, and perfect for a special occasion.
To start, we shared the croquetas de jamón serrano y manchego, which were perfectly crisp and paired so nicely with a tomato marmalade. Alongside, we had a grain salad that was surprisingly flavorful and refreshing—farro, quinoa, crispy kale, chickpeas, goat cheese, and pomegranate all brought together with a sherry-honey vinaigrette. It was the kind of dish you talk about long after it’s gone.
For our mains, I went with the Pork Duo—a combination of Ibérico pork and local cochinillo with root vegetable pavé and a sweet-tangy membrillo glaze. Every bite was incredible. My wife had the braised short ribs, and wow—fall-apart tender, with a spiced carrot purée and heirloom carrot salad that added such a unique twist. We also shared the creamy potato side with Pecorino, black pepper, and cured egg yolk—absolutely rich and comforting.
To finish, we had the apple bread pudding with brown butter ice cream and a cinnamon-walnut sablé. Let’s just say we were tempted to lick the plate.
Chef Carol Reyes—thank you for such an unforgettable dining experience. Your passion and talent truly shine through every dish. Bóveda is now our favorite upscale spot in Puerto Rico, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
