We went for afternoon tea. It was just OK, nothing special. Nice view but not much atmosphere and the food was average.

We had afternoon tea and the food was of a good standard. Main issue was initially waiting quite a while for our drinks to appear. Then staff kept leaving the room, so we had to locate people to ask for more drinks. The coffee was warm. There was no milk with the tea. Extra plates were not provided for the scones or cakes. Jam , cream and butter were on the table , but knives or spoons were not provided, so again, had to wait for staff member to request this. The view from the Brasserie restaurant is great, but we were sat inside with full sun and no shade , which became uncomfortable after a short time. Plus the food stands were directly in the sun , not so good for sandwiches and cakes. The menu on the table stated afternoon tea was £25, but we were charged £26 p.p. When challenged, we were told these were the old menus. Yet they were still on the table. It’s a shame, as it’s a lovely venue plus bathroom facilities were good.

I do regret on this occasion, we have not met or indeed exceeded your expectations and our usual high standards from an all rounded experience. We have shared your comments with the team, and where appropriate, management will be addressing training needs with our Brasserie front of house team. If you could also please make direct contact with the hotel regarding the charge for the afternoon tea, as we would like to organise a refund for the incorrect charge that was displayed from the menu on the day. We celebrated a friends’ big birthday with afternoon tea. The staff made our friend and ourselves feel very special. We had had to make a couple of last minute changes and this was all sorted very graciously, and with no fuss. The food was excellent and the whole experience was a delight. Thank you. We will be back

Sunday night, service was ok as was food, hospitality management was amateur. They messed up our bill and, instead of thoroughly investigating at their end, they claimed that we hadn't settled a drinks bill and started sending daily demands for payment via the hotel group email. Immediately, I asked to be sighted on the EPoS audit trail for our table - everything that was registered, all the corrective entries that the waitress made in attempting to deduct the discount we were entitled to (she'd only been shown how to do this 15 minutes earlier) and the final bill that we paid in good faith. After 4 days of asking, my requests are being ignored and I receive a daily demand for payment. Do not go here on a Sunday night, it appears to be staffed by trainees learning the job on a quiet night, and lord knows what training they actually receive because we were not impressed. I can't imagine EVER wanting to return to this brasserie and hotel again after the way they've treated me

We had a great . The food was good but the service was excellent. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to Joe, the duty manager, who went over and above to make our evening a great experience. Thank you. And we will see you again.

The food here is excellent, and I enjoyed my time as a solo traveler. I'm always on the lookout for heart-healthy food, and although the menu falls short on that front (I could have asked for the food to be cooked with olive oil, but I didn't), the meal was fine. If I were to be in Chester again. I'd ask for that substitution, if they can accommodate that.

Arrive on time for our booking, however we were left at the table for 40 minutes before we had been approached to see if we would like to order. We then ordered the steak deal and added on some bread as a starter. The bread came after 25 minute and was burnt. I had to approach a waitress to ask where the food was as we had already been there for an hour and a half and only had some bread and one drink each. The lady apologised and brought the steak over and we ordered some more drinks with her. After we had eaten we steak we went outside for 20 minutes to watch the fireworks and our drinks had still not come when we went back to the table. We decided we had had enough and asked for the bill, we had to let the staff know we did not get the drinks and could they be removed which they were along with the bread. I cannot fault the steak, it was cooked perfectly, however the experience of a whole was very disappointing and felt abit of a mess. The waitress did apologies and tried her best, but we just felt it was a shame as it would have been a lovely experience and we definitely would have stayed for more drinks if it was not for the poor slow service.
