Traditional local cooking techniques and flavors are elevated with a modern twist at our property's farmer's table restaurant, Brazos - Proper Texas Kitchen - serving breakfast Saturday and Sunday along with special holiday events. Down-home Texan cooking is on the menu along with comfort food favorites, taking time-honored dishes to new heights. Service was great, we loved our waiter. Food was not up to par. We are not the type of people to splurge like this, we can’t even afford a room at the hotel, but it was a special occasion. Steak was way over salted, chicken thighs tasted like they were reheated, soup was good but had definitely been sitting out, and veggies were charred & did not taste well at all… we asked for to-go boxes so the leftover meat could go to our dogs, but did not even feel comfortable serving it to them.

It was an overall terrible experience. We were sat on time and ordered shortly thereafter and it took almost an hour for our entrees to be served. At about (45) minutes into dinner we looked around and none of the (8) tables had food except for salads. The table beside had been waiting an hour and (15) minutes. The bill was over $400 (not including drinks which we had to get from the bar), the food was mediocre and the wait was terrible. One saving grace was the manager, Paige, and a few of the younger staff that tried very hard but they had no support from the kitchen. We even tried to get deserts to go but the kitchen lost the order so we just left after paying. How a hotel/conference center restaurant could perform so poorly before a huge football game is unfathomable.

Waited an hour and a half to receive cold food; service was subpar but that’s because of lack of staffing.

Our experience would have been and should have been lovely. The location is great, the setting is warm and comfortable. But the service was atrocious! It took an hour for all of our drinks to arrive, the food was family style but delivered without serving utensils. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen to remedy these problems, and the result was cold lumpy gravy on what otherwise was a very tasty meal. Juicy turkey, rare roast beef, yummy cornbread stuffing. The desserts which were available were delicious. Unfortunately, we missed out on the fresh fruit which had been in their advertisement, they ran out of plates for the dessert bar, and the chocolate fondue was boiled to an oily mess.

Server was terrible. Could not get our drink orders correct much less the food. We were actually there for a pre theater price fixe dinner, but the manager had no idea what we were talking about. We showed him the email confirming it and the advertisement from the restaurant advertising it. Said no one told him. When we came in we told the server we had a show to go to, but she walked around like a zombie. Won’t be back for sure.
