Solo female traveler seeking mouthwatering meals that offer incredible value! Unfortunately, this one fell a bit short for me.
The Complimentary Bread:
I have to start here. The bread was some sort of potato creation, but I just couldn’t get into it. The sweet butter with a sprinkle of salt was decent, but sadly, it couldn’t save the bread.
1. COCONUT RED CURRY LOBSTER BISQUE
The soup itself was enjoyable—nicely spiced but not overpowering. However, the portion was disappointingly small, it was a cup of soup in a big bowl. (hello, optical illusion). The lobster piece in the soup? A little fishy for my taste, and not in the best way.
2. SEARED JUMBO SCALLOP and CHEDDAR ULU MASHED POTATO
Okay, where do I even start with this? "Jumbo scallop" might have been a typo—it was more like a miniature scallop. The mushrooms and asparagus on the plate were lovely, but there was a sneaky green onion pretending to be asparagus. That surprise onion moment? Not cool.
The cheddar ulu mashed potatoes… oh boy. They were gummy, oddly sweet, and had hints of honey and nutmeg that felt totally out of place. It was a flavor combination that just didn’t work for me.
3. The Wine
The staff were fantastic about letting me sample two wines before I chose a Vermentino from Italy. It was a winner!
Valet: Complimentary, which was a nice touch.
Finding the Restaurant: This was frustrating. No one directed me where to go, so I had to play detective, asking random guests and staff until I finally found it. Not exactly a warm welcome.
Ambiance: Stunning. The restaurant was beautiful, the sunset was breathtaking, and the solo guitarist/singer added a pleasant, low-key vibe.
Price: $104, not exactly cheap, especially since I didn’t even like the food.
Final Verdict:
Three stars. The scenery and ambiance were top-notch, and the grounds of the Fairmont are undeniably gorgeous. Unfortunately, the food just didn’t do it for me.
