Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work.

Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region.

In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

Fantastic drinks and cocktails. Love the atmosphere on the bar side. The food is usually amazing - fried pickles were less crunchy than usual and the chicken sandwich was good- but not as outstanding as usual. Overall love the place. Hoping it was just an off day.

The food was excellent, ambience was cozy and the noise level was reasonable enough to visit and have a good conversation. Food was excellent as was the service!

Pleasant and helpful staff -extremely efficient and hurried our orders so we could make a play. Food was varied and delicious- just as the server described. Most enjoyable evening.

Great food. We had a large group and they handled it very well. Service was excellent. Drinks were excellent. Cool vibe.

Great food, simple but elevated. My pork chop was delicious and huge! Great cocktails and service. Reasonable prices especially for the quality experience. Only complaint was it was so cold sitting near the windows/door, though it was freezing outside.
