Authentic Northern Italian fare, also specializing in seafood and steaks. Cafe Portofino is a beautiful upscale restaurant overlooking the ocean located at the Royal Sonesta Resort. Please come and enjoy our award wining cuisine and breathtaking views. Official parking for the restaurant is available at the Royal Sonesta Resort.

Please note, all seating is first come, first served- no special seating requests can be honored. For parties over 6, online reservations are not accepted, please call the main number.

If you have children in your party, please leave a note on your reservation or message the restaurant so that we can better accommodate your seating. Grazie.

Food was excellent. Our server was very good, too--kind, friendly, attentive--but she had so much to do, our service was slow. I had made a reservation a week ahead and confirmed via email the day before, but there were no tables in the outdoor area, so we were seated at a table next the bar with all the waitstaff walking back and forth past us to and from the kitchen. If we had been "drop-ins," I would have been fine with that, but I'd made a reservation and at the host desk had been told there were no tables, so they didn't reserve one for me and that didn't seem right. That said, the food was wonderful, which is why we came in the first place.

We had a lovely dinner. The Caesar salad was fresh & the escargot in the shells were a delight. My lamb was delicious & the filet perfectly prepared. Our waiter was friendly & had helpful wine & dinner suggestions. It was the perfect ending to our Kauai vacation & one of our favorite places on the island.

Portofino is one of our favorite places to dine on the island of Kauai. It has it all. Ambiance, excellent food and very friendly staff. On some nights they have live music. The harpist is amazing! Señor Giuseppe takes pride in his customer service and every aspect of his restaurant to provide you with a memorable experience!

Food was below average for us unfortunately. We ended up getting a meal from the hotel after eating here.

We ate there twice while in Kauai. Totally excellent. Besides their regular menu, they offer 2 or 3 specials nightly. Also, their Happy Hour menu is great! Highly recommend!

The food was outstanding. The Portabella mushroom spinach salad was perfectly dressed & a nice change from the usual salads offered. -The eggplant Parmesan was the best I have ever had. My husband's Caesar's salad was also delicious and his veal Marsala was perfect. The portions were reasonable & the service very professional. Dinner seemed to take a long time, but I am guessing it is due the the care the kitchen takes in their preparations.

We eat here 2-3 times during our trips to Kauai. Food always good. Merrick was server this time and provided excellent service.
