   I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for the past 7 years and finally got the chance last night. Sadly, the experience didn’t live up to the expectations. We started with the Achari Paneer, which was disappointing. It wasn’t seasoned well, didn’t taste anything like “achari,” and was quite dry. The salsa on top didn’t feel fresh—it tasted old, which made the dish even less enjoyable. Next up was the Chili Chicken, which honestly felt like overcooked fried chicken with a heavy cornstarch coating, tossed in what seemed like store-bought teriyaki or a similar bottled sauce. It lacked the bold flavors or texture you’d expect from something labeled chili chicken, and was tough enough that my jaw literally started hurting while chewing it. For mains, we had the Murgh Makhani and Dal Makhani. The Murgh Makhani had a raw tomato taste and the gravy seemed undercooked. The Dal Makhani was the only dish that somewhat salvaged the meal—it was decent. Naan-wise, the coriander naan had some flavor, but the garlic naan had no trace of garlic—oddly bland. To top it off, service wasn’t great. I specifically asked for my drink without ice, and it arrived filled with ice. On the bright side, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, which I appreciated. I really wanted to love this place after so many years of anticipation, but the food and service need serious improvement. Hoping it was just an off night.

   We enjoyed attentive service and excellent food in a beautiful setting. Each dish had layers of flavour. it was so good we would have liked the bowls and plates if it were polite to do so. It did get a little noisy when the restaurant was fuller. We highly recommend Calcutta Cricket Club if you would like to enjoy delicious Indian food!!!

   Hadn’t been since the former location on 17th Ave (so, a long time between visits) and Calcutta Cricket Club was even better than I’d remembered.

   Overall was a good experience. Wouldn’t attend again just as pricing was a bit pricy, went for my mother’s birthday, any other place would’ve done something special. Food was good not the best but great for Modern Indian in Downtown. Nice atmosphere, little loud on a weekend night.

   If you want to feel rushed while dining in, this place is for you. The food is average. Portion sizes are hilarious. We went to celebrate our anniversary. However, 20mins in and the waiter was pushing us to order the main course already! Didn’t feel inviting at all. The food tasted pretty average considering the snob value. Highly disappointed.

   Fabulous experience! We had such a pleasure of dining with you last might, and we all agreed, it was an experience to remember! The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a fantastic dining experience. And the food—it was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, bursting with fresh flavors and beautifully presented. Whether you're a fan of savory, indulgent entrées or light, refreshing appetizers, their menu offers something for everyone. We all agreed each dish was cooked to perfection and packed with bold, delightful flavors. Beyond the incredible food and service, the atmosphere added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. With its cozy yet elegant décor, soft lighting, and well-chosen music, it provided the perfect setting for a memorable night out.    Two of us enjoyed dinner at Calcutta on a Sunday evening. Sunday is a quieter day — but not too quiet. We enjoyed the “taste of Calcutta” tasting menu — a great way to try several dishes. Service was attentive and the food was delicious. We will be back.
