Carbone Vino has a beautiful space with great finishes and a nice aesthetic, but the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype. The food was okay—not terrible, but not as exceptional as expected.
The service was a bit off, starting with the check-in process. There are two hosts—one for Carbone and one for Vino—standing right next to each other, but there’s no signage to differentiate the two. This caused confusion both for us and our guests who arrived separately, and we were initially told our reservation couldn’t be found, which set a weird tone for the evening.
Once seated, the server didn’t mention that the menu was family style until after we ordered, despite us telling her it was our first visit. While family style is fine, it would’ve been helpful to know upfront, as it completely threw off our order when she remarked, "Oh, you’re ordering too much." Additionally, the pacing of the meal was quite slow, with dishes spaced out over a long dinner. Not a dealbreaker, but something we would have appreciated knowing beforehand.
There were a couple of other missteps, like our first drink being delivered to another table, which added to the overall disjointed experience.
In the end, it wasn’t awful, but the experience didn’t live up to expectations, given the buzz surrounding this restaurant when it opened.
