Hosted a work breakfast with 14 of my team. Everyone had a great time, wonderful food, fantastic service and such a lovely space. Many have noted they want to go back.

The value for money was non existent. Definitely more expensive for brunch than other cafes, but did not meet same standards. Coffee was tepid and weak. The food was ……just not great. We all had something different and none of us thought it was great. Will not be back.

Vertue is a great hidden gem of a café in a laneway off a laneway. Worth a check out, & accessible for mobility restricted patrons. General environment could benefit from a tidy & reduced clutter to access the toilets Staff are friendly & attentive

Vertue Coffee Roasters CARLTON has a cool vibe in a great looking space, but is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Compared to many of the other great cafe's in Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood, the food is just average but is super expensive. "Mains", are all over $30 for the basic, and then it's at least $7 and $11 to add something...e.g. haloumi, extra egg. That's up to $40 for a breakfast item!!! I understand they specialise in Coffee, but $7.20 for a large latte (regular brew) is outlandish...Proud Mary barely charge that for their specialty brew. I couldn't justifiably recommend it to anyone.

Great atmosphere, the host was especially friendly, wait staff pretty quiet, delicious coffee, yummy food. Could have stayed all day, with the host continuing to ask if we wanted "another round"! One member of our party did have a minor allergic reaction to their buttermilk chicken which may have contained sesame but it was not specified on the menu. Other than that, a wonderful place to catch up with old friends. Plus, booking meant we got the comfy chairs.
