Casa Chi is a cocktail forward Nikkei concept by Chef Richard Sandoval. Nikkei offers a unique, historical blend of flavors combining traditional Japanese tastes with the vibrant palette of Peruvian cuisine. It was our anniversary and we included that in our Open Table reservation. We saw a couple receive a complimentary drink (what seemed for their anniversary). We shared in person with staff that it was on our anniversary. It was just a little uncomfortable to ask to receive what the other couple received because the staff person didn't read our Open Table reservation details. Otherwise we certainly did appreciate the complimentary drink and dessert.

We had a fun night at Casa Chi. It was an intimate space with a welcoming staff. The food was delicious and the drinks were great.

The upside: The food is absolutely incredible, each bite was exquisite. We got the lobster wonton tacos, the smoked swordfish dip and the hot stone tenderloin and they were all excellent. The downside: everything is quite pricey and the portions are very small. This is not a place to come if you're really hungry, unless you 're prepared to drop a few hundred dollars. The service was just OK, the menu is a little unusual and we had to really pry an explanation out of our server. They also add an automatic 18% gratuity, so be aware of that.

We were first introduced to Robert Sandoval in Denver, with his restaurant Zengo and absolutely loved. We were sad to Zengo close. But we were over the moon when we had this trip to Chicago planned and reconnecting with Robert via Casa Chi. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server, Sunny, was very helpful with guiding us thru the menu. We took all of his recommendations and they didn't disappoint. He made the experience so pleasant and enjoyable for our party. If we make it back to Chicago, we will definitely be back!
