The Charcoal Steak House is an independent local steakhouse serving the Waterloo region community for over 65 years. Enjoy AAA Steaks, richly marbled wagyu, slow roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, mouth-watering pig tails, legendary smoked ribs and more. At lunch we feature an extensive menu with burgers, sandwiches, bowls and healthy salad choices.

Sundays are made for Brunch from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Our Martinis Bar with summer patio offers the full Steak House menu or light meals in a more casual setting. Enjoy appetizers, a full meal, 20 beers on tap and beautiful outdoor seating area in summer.

    We were given a table of our choice in a quiet part of the restaurant and enjoyed the food. Service was excellent. The manager checked on us and water was always topped up. Nice dining experience.

    We have done the New Year’s dinner here several times. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding. Easy parking.

    Thank you to the Charcoal for a fabulous New Year’s Eve dinner. The food choices were fabulous, it was served hot, our server Angela was wonderful, too. A great start to our New Year’s celebration.

    Always great for a special occasion like NYE. I have been coming to Charcoal every NYE for the past ten years and am never disappointed. They go all out to make the evening very special.

    NYE 2024. 4 people. Preset menu. The steak and ribs were cooked precisely as ordered. The mashed potatoes with the ribs were firm, stiff, not creamy. I was never offered a refill on my diet coke, we were not asked if we wanted coffee or tea, we asked the first time for our water to be refilled, after that, the server never asked or offered.

    Great service, food is amazing. They had a great menu for Nee Years Eve with lots of festivities and options for pictures. Aldo’s there service can’t be beat. Great place all around.

    What a lovely noon meal! Two of us had the salmon which was done to perfection! A tasty glaze! The third member had the filet - it must have been good - it disappeared quickly! The service staff were fantastic! Close by if needed, but willing to allow us to enjoy our meals uninterrupted. Top notch! We were seated in the outdoor heated area which was quiet and comfortable! Thanks so much!

    Best table location in the building. Been in this building over 100 times. Never in this location...I will ask for that location in the future. Meal and service was very good too.

    Another great meal.Unfortunately one steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium well.Service was great.We stopped going to the Keg many years ago because they couldn’t get the steaks right for us.Lets hope this doesn’t happen again.
