The Charcoal Steak House is an independent local steakhouse serving the Waterloo region community for over 65 years. Enjoy AAA Steaks, richly marbled wagyu, slow roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, mouth-watering pig tails, legendary smoked ribs and more. At lunch we feature an extensive menu with burgers, sandwiches, bowls and healthy salad choices.

Sundays are made for Brunch from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Our Martinis Bar with summer patio offers the full Steak House menu or light meals in a more casual setting. Enjoy appetizers, a full meal, 20 beers on tap and beautiful outdoor seating area in summer.

    We were a table of 4. Our first table was in a loud area, my husband has hearing issues, and the waitstaff offered to move us to a quieter area. The waitress A Eman was friendly, cheerful and gave excellent service. We enjoyed our time together and had 4 different great meals and 2 desserts. I have always had a good experience at Charcoal Steakhouse. Rita Boyle

    Exceptional from start to finish. From ease of reservation to staff welcome at the door to warm attentiveness throughout our meal, the Charcoal steakhouse has never failed to make our dining experience something worth coming back for time and time again!

    It’s unfortunate that the covered patio area has a very underwhelming atmosphere compared to the the others areas of Martini’s and Charcoal proper. Given the busy night at Charcoal this was the only seats available for our reservation. It really felt misplaced given that it had no seasonal decorations like the other parts of the restaurant. Great on a summer day potentially but felt totally unattached to the restaurant. The server was energetic and engaged well with the table. It’s unfortunate that she did not take any queues from three of the four dinner plates not fully consumed. She didn’t ask nor were we going to raise it at the end of the main course during a birthday celebration. The Steak Diane dishes were both served in bowls with the food swimming in liquid / sauce. Taste didn’t come close to this classic dish. The Beef Wellington meal was served with cold potatoes and the beef had no real flavour and had an odd tasting note. The Rib did was outstanding and met Charcoal’s quality it is known for. The vegetable sides on the three meals were cooked to perfection. Not the best dinner experience at Charcoal this time. Parking was huge challenge given the business at the hotel and restaurants last night. Several vehicles parking on an angle in many spots took away several spots. It was frustrating but we eventually found a tight spot and had to exit out of the passenger’s side. Thank you for the dessert treat for the guest celebrating his birthday at our table. Much appreciated!

    Brought our mother for her 92nd birthday for lunch. She had a wonderful experience … didn’t like the beer she ordered but our server quickly suggested something and she loved it. Lunch was excellent … we were in a corner so we could chat and she could hear. It was excellent!

    We love the Steakhouse! Many great memories of family and friends times there! So much history. The only reason for the low value score is that all restaurants have become a bit crazy expensive these days… I guess everything has. Who’s to blame really? Otherwise it’s always lovely to spend time there. Service is excellent, food good and reliable. And loved sitting in the sunroom on a warm November day!!

    The Charcoal is always a great experience! Between the ambiance, the relaxed and spacious interior, and the food, this is a must-do stop. When you add in the Team and the attention to detail, the Charcoal is definitely value for the dollar! We came in today for a much-delayed Anniversary Brunch and were absolutely spoiled. If you are looking for an exceptional meal, you have found it. Enjoy!
