CHARCUT is a proud female majority-owned and operated destination restaurant and bar from Calgary’s CHAR Hospitality Group – founded by Carrie Jackson and acclaimed chefs Connie DeSousa and John Jackson. Our menu draws inspiration from Italian and Portuguese traditions, a nod to Connie’s heritage, while celebrating seasonal, artisanal, and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. From our handmade pastas and vegetable-forward sharing plates to our house-cured meats, butcher cuts, and rotisserie prime rib of Alberta beef, we take a back to basics, back to flavour approach by evolving simple ingredients. CHARCUT offers a true neighbourhood restaurant experience, a place to gather and connect over great food, drinks, conversation, and company.

Food and service was exceptional. It’s still too loud in there, but we persist and go.

Went here for our Anniversary and they made it super special! Delicious food, nice ambiance, super attentive staff. Definitely will come back for another special occasion!

A long hair was found in my meal. A disgusting breach of hygiene was met with an indifferent management response.

Delightful table for 2 by the fireplace with exceptional professional service from our server. Food and drinks came promptly and all dishes were outstanding - exceeding our expectations. Steak was done perfectly, crispy potatoes fan-tastic, the blistered tomatoes amazingly flavorful with cheesy sauce cleaned up with beautiful foccacia bread. The zucchini salad was a delightful surprise bursting with flavors all equally balanced. Bravo to our server and all the chefs in the kitchen. Its was a tremendous dining experience for us. Thank you.

Disappointment overall with this experience. We were an hour early for our reservation, so sat at the bar for a cocktail. Then asked the hostess if we could be seated for our reservation. She pointed to our table, so we sat ourselves. 10 minutes after sitting, I received a text stating we didn’t show up for our reservation, so my credit card would be charged. I replied, “we are here & have been here over an hour”. I then received another response “ oh lol” Bartender was good for cocktails at the bar. Good was not good

Wanted to love it but it was honestly not that nice an experience. We tried the pork belly, the blistered tomatoes, the escargot and the prime rib. We would not recommend any of those dishes. Saturday evening so noise level was ridiculous and server was scarce. It was disappointing - perhaps going on a weekday would have been more pleasant, I don’t know.

This restaurant was really great, it was a bit noisy but the food was delicious and portioned well. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying and there was a warm ambiance.

Service and food was adequate, but nothing special. The entire evening was just about wrecked as we were ignored for several minutes waiting for a staff member to acknowledge our existence and to seat us for our reservation.
