Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Overall good service, great atmosphere, and the food was expertly prepared. French cuisine that was not over the top. Good value for the money. We both tried the fish dishes which were exquisite.

Charlie's NEVER disappoints. It's truly one of the best restaurants on Hilton Head Island. Lunches are superb, as are the dinners.

We had a wonderful dinner here! The red fish was incredible with those au gratin potatoes! Delish!! We also had the peppermint swirl cheese cake and it was phenomenal! Our server was awesome and gave great recommendations!

Charles never disappoints. The service is always fantastic. From when the hostess Pam greet you till your last bite of dessert, everything is perfect. Lucas was our server and he was fantastic. He knew so much about the wine and the menu. The escargot was as great as always, the lamb was perfect. The sheepshead was a generous portion and perfectly cooked.

We had three appetizers, the Fried Clams, the She Crab Soup and the Escargot. All were wonderful, served with delicious warm French Country Bread to soak up the juices or eat with butter. We also had a Chardonnay and Riesling to pair with them. Then we had the Seared Scallops and the Filet both served with a side salad with great dressing, mixed vegetables, and scalloped potatoes. We swapped plates half way through, so we both had a bit of surf & turf. I changed my wine to Cabernet which was wonderful with the beef. We split Carmel pie for dessert also great.

Excellent food and our waiter was so attentive. It was my daughter’s 30th. She really enjoyed it. The peppermint cheese cake was so good I ordered one for New Year’s Eve
