Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Our waitress was great. She made the best mango martini. Food was good, nicely presented. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. I did not especially like the chicken crepe, but I make great ones so it was not fair to compare. fish, salad, bread, dessert were all very good.

A great lunch on a cold rainy day. The only negative was being seated next to a gentleman with hearing problems who (apparently) thought if he spoke loudly he would hear better.( but what are you gonna do?)

A Monday evening dinner at Charlie’s never (ever) disappoints. The service was perfect- attentive but not intrusive. The tuna and the mahi were cooked perfectly. They barely beat out the incredible scalloped potatoes. The flan was silky and rich. And the meal was accompanied by a lovely CA Chardonnay.
